When to start Ausbildungsbewerbungen in Germany
Many school leavers wait until final exams end, then discover that popular Ausbildungsbetriebe already filled their slots. Others apply in September of the year before leaving school and then have nothing left to say when grades improve. The useful middle path depends on the trade and the region — not on a single national deadline.
Autumn of the year before you leave
Large industrial firms and some public-sector employers publish Ausbildungsplätze early. If you are aiming at those lists, draft a Lebenslauf while you still have time for a late Praktikum. You do not need perfect final grades yet; you do need a clear trade direction and honest interim marks.
Late winter and early spring
Handwerksbetriebe and smaller offices often hire closer to the start date. This is when many Rheinland-Pfalz leavers should intensify submissions — especially if commute radius is limited. Keep a simple table of where you applied, who answered, and when to follow up.
After the Zeugnis arrives
Update documents within a week. Firms that asked you to wait for finals expect a prompt send. If you are still without an offer by midsummer, widen the field carefully rather than sending identical Anschreiben to every remaining vacancy.
